VW Crafter Multifunction Steering Wheel Retrofit With ACC

October 29, 2026

Volkswagen Crafter Steering Wheel Upgrade with Adaptive Cruise Control and Digital Speedometer

A smarter cab starts with more than a different-looking wheel. This Crafter multifunction steering wheel upgrade combined fresh interior detailing with Adaptive Cruise Control and a digital speedometer. The result gives this Volkswagen van a more modern feel without losing its OEM-style character. 🔧🚐⚙️

Would you choose extra driving functions, a refreshed leather finish, or both? Here, the project brought those priorities together. Rather than fitting a new wheel, we installed a used example that we had already professionally retrimmed.

One upgrade with several useful changes

The Crafter multifunction steering wheel project covered both the wheel itself and added driving functionality. Alongside the multifunction controls, the completed upgrade included Adaptive Cruise Control and a digital speedometer.

  • Multifunction steering wheel: upgraded controls and an updated appearance.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control: additional driver-assistance functionality.
  • Digital speedometer: a numerical road-speed display.
  • Previously used wheel: professionally retrimmed before this installation.
  • Leather finish: perforated sides with smooth upper and lower sections.
  • Orange stitching: a contrasting detail around the wheel.

A part exchange finds its next home

This wheel came with a little workshop history. Another customer had previously left it with us as a part exchange. Because we had already completed its professional retrim, it offered a ready-finished option for this Crafter.

Importantly, “used” describes the wheel’s history—not an untouched original finish. The earlier retrim gave this component a second chapter, now as part of a functional cab upgrade.

Orange stitching with an OEM-style feel

The orange thread adds colour without taking over the interior. Meanwhile, perforated leather runs along the sides, with smooth leather across the top and bottom.

Together, those details give the wheel its own character while retaining the factory-style appearance the project aimed for. It is a useful example of how vag retrofits can combine personal finishing choices with practical equipment upgrades.

More than a wheel swap

For anyone considering a similar installation, compatibility matters as much as appearance. Adaptive Cruise Control depends on suitable vehicle equipment and configuration; changing the wheel alone does not automatically add it.

Likewise, the digital speedometer here should not be confused with a claimed full digital instrument-cluster replacement. This project’s confirmed feature is the digital speed readout.

Considering something similar for your Crafter?

Work like this needs careful component selection and vehicle-specific integration. Professional Retrofits Limited completed this project, bringing the retrimmed wheel and added functions together.
